Caller ID

Q: Where can I buy Conairphone™ products?
A: Our Conairphone™ products can be purchased at many national retailers, including Ames, Bradlees, Lowes, Sears, Target, and Walmart. In addition, select the SHOP ONLINE icon to purchase through our secure webstore, or call toll-free 1-888-999-2804.

Q: How do I operate the callback function on my Caller ID* unit?
A: Most of our Caller ID units offer the redial/callback feature. To call the I.D. record you are currently reviewing, simply press the redial button and your telephone will automatically call the number. Once it has dialed, it will instruct you to pick up the telephone to begin your conversation.

*Caller ID requires special service from your local telephone company.

Q: Can I hook up my answering machine, Caller ID unit and telephone together, on one phone line?
A: Yes, all of our Conairphone answering machines, Caller IDs and telephones can be hooked up together on one phone line. Keep in mind, however, that each home has a Ringer Equivalence Number (REN) that will tell you the maximum number of devices you can connect to your telephone line and still have all of those devices ring. The REN for each of your telephone devices is printed on the bottom of your Conairphone™ unit. Contact your local telephone company to find out the maximum REN for your calling area.

Q: If I have signed up for Call Waiting Caller ID* service (Type II), can I still use Type I (name and number only) devices? Similarly, if I have Type I service, can I use a Type II device?
A: If you have signed up for Call Waiting Caller ID service with your local telephone company, you can use telephones that are built with Type I technology.

If your area offers Type I service only, then you will only be able to see the name and number of incoming callers when you are not on the telephone line. You cannot determine who is calling when you are already on the line.

Q: I often receive private/blocked messages on my Caller ID unit. How do I unblock them?
A: Because of the right to privacy, telephone subscribers can prevent their Caller ID information from transmitting to the end-user. There is a way, however, to solve the problem. (The procedure may vary in different states, so contact your local telephone company for further information.) For users within the Southern New England Telephone calling region, dial *77 as soon as you pick up your phone. From that point, any caller who has the privacy feature will reach a recording stating that your telephone number will not accept blocked calls. The caller must unblock his or her telephone before the call can go through. To reverse the unblocking feature, press *87.

Q: How do I set up my Caller ID unit?
A: Simply download the Quick Reference Guides/Instruction Manuals for your specific Conairphone™ Caller ID products.
