Installation
Handset Hanger Setup
Select a convenient location to hang your new Internet telephone. Stick one side of the enclosed adhesive tape to the back of the handset hanger and the other to the location you have chosen. The side of a desk or wall is suggested.
Important! Should you decide to hang you Conair Electronics Internet Telephone on the side of your computer monitor, you may experience distortion of your computer screen. If this occurs, simply move the hanger back further on the monitor or find a new location to hang the handset.
Audio Cord Installation
Connect the modular plug into the modular jack located on the handset. Attach the audio jacks into your computer's sound card following these directions:
* Insert the single connector into the microphone input on your soundcard.
* Insert the dual connector (with speaker extension jack) into the speaker output on you soundcard.
* If your computer is equipped with speakers, insert the speaker connector into the bypass jack and turn down the speaker volume to prevent feedback.
Follow the Internet Telephone Setup and Test instructions in the Owner's Manual to set and test the receiver volume control.
Operation
Receiving an Internet Call
Your computer must be turned on and you must be on-line in order to receive an Internet call. Once you have connected with a caller, use the handset like any basic telephone.
Placing an Internet Call
1. Connect to your network in the normal way (dial-up or LAN)
2. Start your Internet telephony software.
3. Set full or half duplex mode if required.
4. Using the program's directory service, place a call and enjoy you Internet Telephone.
Important
The Conair(tm) Electronics Internet Telephone can be used with other Internet telephony programs. You should contact your Internet telephony software company with questions on how to use the software!
