Corded Telephone with Headset Quick Reference Guide

This guide tells you how to quickly install and operate your new telephone. For more detailed instructions, please refer to your Owner's Manual.

Important Notice
Your Conairphone™ will operate on all systems, true tone or rotary.
1. If your home is wired for Rotary service, move the Tone/Pulse switch to Pulse position (P).
2. If your home is wired for Tone service, move the switch to the Tone position (T).
3. If you are unsure of the type of service you have, position Tone/Pulse switch to Tone (T).
If dialing cannot be done, set to Pulse (P).

Installation

Line Cord Connection
Connect the straight end of the telephone line cord to the modular phone jack located on the wall. If you have a four prong jack, plug the line cord into a modular adapter and then into the jack.

Earset Cord Connection (Model SW9260)
For model SW9260, insert the earset plug into the jack on the unit.

Earset
The earset can be used on either the left or right ear. Adjust the swivel cap so the earset is compatible to either the right or left ear. For an ideal fit on virtually any ear, the SW8260 and SW9260 come with two different sized receiver brackets. The larger receiver bracket is already installed on the earset. To use the smaller receiver bracket, twist off the larger receiver bracket by turning counterclockwise. Replace with the smaller receiver bracket by turning clockwise. Rotate the microphone boom so that the microphone cap is pointed toward the mouth.

Operation

Receiving a Call
When your phone rings, slide the On/Off switch to the "On" position. The On/Off switch LED turns on. To disconnect the line, slide the On/Off switch to the "Off" position. The On/Off switch LED turns off.

Dialing a Call
NOTE: Before dialing, make sure the Tone/Pulse switch is correctly positioned for your
type of service.
Slide the On/Off switch to the "On" position, wait for a dial tone, then press the keys for the number you want. Your Conairphone™ (in pulse setting) uses electronic pulses to simulate dialing. You might hear pulsing for a second or two after the last button has been pressed.

Key Features

Earset Cord Clip
The SW8260 and SW9260 include an earset cord clip for added convenience. Put on the earset. Slide the clip onto clothing with the cord holder facing out. Place the cord over the holder and press down to secure.

Belt Clip
A belt clip is attached to the phone for added mobility and comfort.

Neck Strap Option (Model SW9260)
Model SW9260 includes a lanyard for wearing the phone around your neck. We suggest you attach the lanyard to the black ring around the unit where the receiver volume and tone/pulse switches are located. This makes it easy to read the keypad numbers and text when dialing.

Last Number Redial
Your Conairphone™ remembers the last number dialed. If the number you dial is busy or not being answered, hang up. To automatically redial the last number, press the REDIAL button. NOTE: You can redial the same number as many times as needed. However, once you dial another number, the previous number is erased.

Receiver Volume Control
This feature allows you to adjust your handset volume from normal to high, for a more comfortable listening level.

Timed Flash Function
The FLASH button can be used to retrieve a new dial tone after ending a call.

NOTE: The FLASH button is also used with special telephone services such as call waiting and three party calling. Press the FLASH button briefly, release and perform the custom call procedure. After you have used the FLASH function and you wish to use the REDIAL function, you must reset the telephone before the redial function can be used. Reset the telephone by turning the On/Off switch to the "Off" and then to the "On" position.

Trouble Shooting Guide

Problem: No dial tone
• Check all modular plugs to be sure they are firmly in place.
• Are the cords damaged in any way?
• Try another phone jack. If your Conairphone™ works on another jack, there may be a
   problem with your wiring.

Problem: I hear my phone dialing, but I can not get past the dial tone.
• Check the Tone/Pulse switch. If positioned in Tone (T) mode, switch to Pulse (P). You
   may have pulse dialing service.

Problem: Phone does not ring.
• Is the ringer switch set to the "Off" position?
• How many extensions are connected to your line? If more than five telephones are
installed on the same line, you may need to contact your local telephone company to
determine the maximum number of extensions for your calling area.

Problem: The sound volume is too low.
• Is another extension off hook? If so, hang up the extension.
